Xinjiang has gradually entered a critical period of spring plowing and planting of cotton, people have been busy on the cotton field recently.

 Xinjiang is main cotton producing area in china. Cotton output occupied 84.9% of total  total output. According to data from the National Bureau of Statistics, in 2019, Xinjiang (including Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps) cotton sown area was 38.107 million mu, and the output reached 5.002 million tons. Xinjiang is no.1 in terms of total cotton output, per unit yield, planting area, and commodity allocation for the past 25 consecutive years.

　　 The reporter learned from the Agriculture and Rural Affairs Department of the Autonomous Region that in recent years, mechanization has been widely used in Xinjiang's cotton fields. At present, more than 90% of the cotton fields in northern Xinjiang have been fully mechanized, and the mechanization rate of cotton harvesting in southern Xinjiang is about 40%.

　　In 2020, Xinjiang will continue to promote structural reforms on the cotton supply side, continuously optimize the layout of cotton planting, expand the scale of mechanically harvested cotton in South Xinjiang, and plan to increase the area of mechanically harvested cotton by more than 1 million mu.
